Youth Ice Fishing Derby Returns to South Woodhaven Pond
The event is sponsored by FM Walleyes, who drill the holes, and Scheels, who provide bait free of charge.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Young anglers braved the cold on Saturday to participate in one of the region’s favorite winter traditions.
The Fargo Park District hosted their annual Youth Ice Fishing Derby on Woodhaven Pond.
It grows in popularity every year, with organizers estimating about 250 children signed up this time around.
The wind was biting, but so were the fish – and everyone seemed to have a good time.
“People are excited to be out here, even with the cold. It’s something else to get outside and do – something exciting to do with your kids when it’s not so nice out,” said Amanda Lamp with the Fargo Park District. “People have been having fun, and they’ve been saying great things about the event.”
The event is sponsored by FM Walleyes, who go on the pond in advance and pre-drill holes for the competitors, and Scheels, who supply bait free of charge.
