GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) — Allegiant Air is taking a pause in providing flights to two popular destinations out of Grand Forks International Airport.

Hector Mejia with Allegiant Media Relations says the airline will place routes to Las Vegas and Phoenix on seasonal hiatus beginning in May.

The last direct Allegiant Air flight customers can book on the airline’s website is a departure flight from Grand Forks to Las Vegas on May 3.

The last direct flight to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport can last be booked for May 4 out of Grand Forks.

Meija says their network planners will continue to assess market conditions, including demand, and adjust service accordingly.

“For competitive reasons, we can’t share future route plans but there’s always a possibility for these routes to return,” said Meija.

One week ago, the airline announced it would acquire Sun Country in a cash and stock transaction valued at around $1.5 billion.

Allegiant is a low-cost carrier that is 100% focused on leisure travel.
The airline considers all routes to be seasonal because its business model is built on demand and seasonality.
