Local activist group prepares to gather for next protest against ICE

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Hundreds of people have gathered at protests and rallies in the metro area hosted by local activist group Red River United Indivisible. And as the numbers continue to grow, their determination to continue what they are fighting for rises.

“Whether it be municipal, whether it be state, whether it be county, whether it be district, whether it be federal. I think that it’s incredibly important, especially in this moment, that people stand up and stand against inhumane policies at the municipal and federal level,” said Colby Montigue, Member of Red River United Indivisible.

Recently, the group gathered in Moorhead and in Fargo to hold two rallies protesting ICE in Minnesota.

“In the last two weeks alone, we’ve seen Renee Good’s killing in Minneapolis, we’ve seen the threats to take over Greenland, we’ve seen just so many issues, and what it means to me is that people are more and more aware of the fact that I don’t think this is what I’ve voted for,” said Lyn Dockter-Pinnick, Red River United Indivisible.

On Tuesday, the group marked their one-year anniversary since they first gathered at the Veterans Memorial Bridge. But Dockter-Pinnick says more work needs to be done.

“It all matters. Every single day we have the opportunity to help someone else and help our democracy. Every single day, whatever people are doing…And whatever you do whenever you can, however you can, do it on the side of compassion and love, not hate and fear,” said Lyn Dockter-Pinnick.

The group plans to protest on Friday at 20th St S. in Moorhead beginning at 3 pm.
