Frostival Returns for 10th and Final Installment

Organizers say there will be another winter-based celebration next year, just not under the Frostival name.

MOORHEAD, MN (KVRR) – Moorhead’s biggest winter celebration forged ahead this Saturday in the face of roaring winds and encroaching snow.

Frostival took place on January 31 at both the Hjemkomst Center and adjacent Viking Ship Park.

There were plenty of indoor and outdoor activities to choose from, ranging from face painting to ice skating and sledding as well as bonfires and sauna sessions.

Event coordinators say that it’s their job to organize a day so fun-filled that people have no choice but to come brave the cold.

“I don’t know if I’ve just been out here for too long, but it’s really not that bad,” laughed Steve French. “It’s definitely cold, but this is where we live, right? So we’re trying to create an environment that gets people to want to come out and make the most of it.”

This is the 10th anniversary of Frostival, and also the final one under this name.

However, Moorhead officials say that there will still be some form of winter celebration next year – they just have to work out what exactly it will entail.
