Man who died in a house fire near Wadena, MN on Thursday is identified

OTTER TAIL CO., Minn. (KVRR) — The man who died in a fire west of Wadena, Minnesota on Thursday night has been identified as 73-year-old David Hanes.

Several deputies and fire departments were called to his home for a structure fire and found Hanes unresponsive inside.

He was taken to Astera Hospital in Wadena where he died.

A dog also died in the fire.

The house is considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but authorities say it doesn’t appear to be suspicious in nature.
