Those involved in deadly use-of-force incident in Duluth, MN are identified
ST. PAUL (KVRR) — Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who died during a use-of-force incident on Tuesday in Duluth as 30-year-old Donald Felver III of Duluth.
Minnesota BCA says St. Louis County Sgt. Joshua Berndt and Deputy Matthew Sobczak both fired their department-issued firearms.
They have both been placed on critical incident leave.
The early investigation found that Felver fired at the officers after a pit maneuver was used on his vehicle.
They were responding to reports of an erratic driver.
It is believed Felver is tied to an earlier deadly shooting in Duluth.
Authorities believe he shot and killed 33-year-old Darius Handy who was in an SUV at a stop sign.
Once the investigation is complete, the BCA will present its findings without recommendation on charges to the St. Louis County Attorney’s Office for review.
