MOORHEAD, MN (KVRR) – The recent snowfall has left quite the blanket of white laying around the Fargo-Moorhead area.

One local group decided to use that blanket as their artistic canvas.

Play in Open Spaces, an educational organization dedicated to outdoor activities, held a Paint the Snow Party at Viking Ship Park on Saturday.

Families had free access to paints of all kinds – from watercolors that went well on solid ice to powdered paint that could be flung in the air.

Organizers said it was an all-natural way for kids of all ages to express their creativity.

“It’s using all simple materials, nature-based materials, and it doesn’t harm the environment,” explained Sally Wyley, owner of Play in Open Spaces.

Play in Open Spaces says that once Spring rolls around and the ice is all gone, they’ll have a similar event focusing on mud sculptures.
