Cat receives 63 staples, Minnesota man accused of animal abuse

ST. CLOUD, Minn. (KVRR-KFGO) – A man is charged with animal mistreatment after a woman says he cut open her cat and tried to drown another cat.
Court documents from Stearns County say St. Cloud Police were called to a residence in St. Cloud on Feb. 17 after a woman reported getting a disturbing phone call from Urias Youboty, Jr.
Youboty told the woman he “slit [her] cat open across his belly.”
The woman left work and arrived home to find blood throughout the residence.
One of her cats was found soaking wet on the bathroom floor. A second cat was found lying on a bed with a ‘very deep’ cut on his chest, below the neck, that was approximately six inches long.
The cat was taken to an emergency veterinary clinic where it received 63 staples to close the wound.
Officers talked to Youboty, who said he was giving a cat a bath when it attacked him, so he slammed the cat onto the floor and kicked it.
Youboty denied cutting the cat and attempting to drown the other cat, court documents state.
The woman told officers, earlier that same morning, she told Youboty she wanted to take a break from their relationship.
