Community Organizes Fundraiser to Benefit Churches United, Dorothy Day Food Pantry
Churches United said they were overwhelmingly grateful that the community independently decided to come together and raise money for their mission.

MOORHEAD, MN (KVRR) – Community organizers came together this weekend to lend a helping hand to Churches United in their battle against hunger in Fargo-Moorhead.
The “Empty Bowls” fundraiser was held at Swing Barrel Brewing Company on Saturday.
It cost $35 to attend, with that money getting you a bowl handcrafted by local artisans and access to an array of soups from popular restaurants like Rustica and the Fryin’ Pan.
100% of the proceeds went to supporting the Dorothy Day Food Pantry – funds that Churches United says are greatly appreciated.
“In [this] one event, you have the arts scene, you have the restaurant scene, you have the brewery, you have these grassroots gardeners, all coming together to say, ‘Hey, we see you, we know that the work you do is vital’,” said Pastor Devlyn Brooks, CEO of Churches United.
The non-profit says that the food pantry is in better shape than in some precarious times last year when SNAP benefits were frozen, but that they are in ongoing need of additional supplies.
