MOORHEAD, Minn. (KVRR) — We are learning more about an ad hoc committee set up by Moorhead Mayor Shelly Carlson to look into possible actions the city can take on concerns about immigration enforcement.

The committee is made up of 13 members including the mayor, city manager, city attorney, police chief and others.

Immigrant Law Center and others groups are also taking part.

The first meeting was held last Friday with another planned for April 3.

Council Member Heather Nesemeier says one of the groups first actions is to gather a list of resources for people who are still afraid to leave their homes.

They also plan to share a list of frequently asked questions about I.C.E. in the community in a number of languages.

The information will be shared on the City of Moorhead website at moorheadmn.gov.

Council Member Deb White called the situation a “crisis” and suggested putting the I.C.E. topic on each council agenda for the time being to get updates and help people in the community, but no action was taken.

She said the ad hoc committee meeting held last Friday wasn’t even put on the agenda.
