Former Democrat State Rep. Ralph Metcalf dies at 90

LISBON, N.D. (KVRR) – A former state representative for District 24 in Valley City has died.

North Dakota Legislative Council says 90-year-old Ralph Metcalf died Saturday at the Veteran’s Home in Lisbon, a project that he championed while in the legislature.

The Democrat served in the state legislature from 1998 to 2012.

He also served for 42 years in the North Dakota National Guard and ended his career as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in 1995.

He was also involved in the North Dakota Winter Show for many years.

He is survived by his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 A.M. on March 28 at St. Catherine’s Catholic Church in Valley City.
