Previewing No Kings 3

The third installment of the nationwide protest will look a bit different in Fargo than it did for the first two iterations.

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – The first two “No Kings” protests in Fargo took place out in front of City Hall.

This time, it’ll be on the lawn outside North Dakota State University’s Churchill Field.

Organizers say this move is purely for safety reasons, as they worry muddy conditions could be hazardous on the sloping City Hall lawn.

One other development with No Kings 3 is the rationale, with Lyn Dockter-Pinnick of Red River United Indivisible acknowledging that military intervention in Iran will likely spur a lot of the turnout.

“The staggering increase of prices of gas. That we have gone to war once again without congressional approval,” she said.

As the group is well aware, though – there’s never a shortage of topics to protest.

“We were promised lower grocery prices. That has not happened. The tariffs have thrown agriculture and the farm economy into an upheaval of concern,” said Dockter-Pinnick.

“There’s just so many things that make it feel like the American dream is never, ever going to be in reach for us,” added Heather Tyulyandin, coordinator for ND Young Dems.

That’s also a change. For the first time, there will be express political involvement, as the event is co-sponsored by the Young Dems.

Tyulyandin says she wants young progressives in the state to know that they have allies.

“The right has Turning Point, and they’re working on their high school groups. But a lot of people on the left, particularly in North Dakota, they feel alone,” she said.

Ultimately – the concept of No Kings itself hasn’t changed one iota.

Those protesting are doing so because they feel it’s a vital action to help preserve the very fabric of America’s democracy.

The protest is scheduled to run from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. on March 28.

Those attending will be able to park anywhere on NDSU’s campus free of charge.
