City of Moorhead Asks Public for Streetlight Banner Designs

The city has already commissioned several designs from a local artist; they want to have the rest of the spots filled by anyone who has the urge to create.

MOORHEAD, MN (KVRR) – The City of Moorhead is putting out a call to its residents for artistic designs – and they need a lot of them very quickly.

The works of art are meant to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the United States of America and will be printed onto banners that will hang on the streetlights in downtown Moorhead.

The designs must incorporate a red, white, and blue color scheme and be double-sided – so it looks the same on both sides of the banner.

City officials say they’re excited to see what the submissions will have to offer.

“I think it’s really up to the artist. We really want to leave the creativity up to them themselves – as long as it kind of fits with the themes we’re looking for,” said Ethan Jonk, assistant city planner.

The deadline to submit is Thursday, April 16, and winners will be announced on April 27.

The goal is to have the banners hanging from the streetlights by sometime in June.
