Stop sticks and PIT maneuver used to stop St. Paul man after chase in Grand Forks County

GRAND FORKS CO., N.D. (KVRR) — It took stop sticks and a PIT maneuver to stop a St. Paul man who tried to flee a traffic stop on I-29 in Grand Forks County.

Around 3:40 this morning, a deputy tried to stop 38-year-old Aaron Wangen for failing to maintain his lane.

A chase moved through Grand Forks before Wangen headed out of the city on South Washington Street, hitting speeds of 100 miles per hour.

He was eventually stopped near the intersection of County Roads 81 and 7 and arrested on numerous counts including fleeing, reckless endangerment, DUI and destruction of a highway.

Wangen was also cited for multiple traffic violations.
