Great Plains Food Bank kicks off annual Packathon

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — Teams from businesses and local organizations gathered once again to compete to make a difference at the Great Plains Food Bank’s annual Packathon.
This year, 16 teams are packing as many pounds as possible, helping transform the food bank’s bulk food into meal kits to feed the local community.
And while it may be high-energy, it’s not all about the competition. The food bank says it’s also a great way to get people involved with their mission of fighting hunger.
And they couldn’t be more thankful for the support they get.
“It reinforces that we have a community that’s very generous and caring for our neighbors who are living with food insecurity. It feels great in the heart, it feels great in the soul, to know we have a good, caring community like this.” Rebecca Knutson said.
This year they are packing more than 11,000 pounds of food, which will make for more than 13,000 meals for those facing hunger in our community.
