FARGO — A new business in the metro opens its doors offering customers beautiful art and a chance for kids of all ages to learn about something we all see every day.

Emporium 706 specializes in rocks of all kinds, including turning some into stunning jewelry and works of art.

The business is the dream of the owner, Amy Hamilton, who became interested in rocks while recovering from a car accident.

She later learned the art of Lapidary, or shaping rocks and turning them into jewelry, or other decorative art.

With the help of her family, she says she is excited to share her love of rocks with the rest of the community.

“I want to have a full-on, interactive museum so people that have physical disabilities, people that have mental disabilities, STEM activities, things that everybody can unite to with earth sciences,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton is also the president of the Lake Agassiz Rock Club, which meets at the new store.
