Suspect, Police Officer Identified in Downtown Robbery and Shootout

We now know who was involved in yesterday’s armed robbery and officer involved shooting in Fargo.

Police have identified the suspect as 30-year old Eric Webb of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Webb is charged with robbery and possession of a firearm by a felon.

He was shot at twice by 7-year Fargo Police Officer Matt Niemeyer, after allegedly holding up a front desk clerk at Howard Johnson in downtown Fargo.

Webb remains in the hospital.

The police chief stresses that this shooting is not being taken lightly.

“recognizing the investigation is still ongoing I will say this. This was a very dangerous life threatening situation for our officers. I’m extremely grateful our officers were okay and not harmed,”said Fargo Police Chief David Todd.

Fargo Police are conducting the armed robbery investigation.

The officer involved shooting is in the hands of the BCI.
