Fargo Public Library kicks off day one of its free summer reading program.

The “Every Hero Has A Story” reading program for children age 12 and under focuses in on super heroes of all kinds.

The “Unmask” reading program is for ages 11 to 18.

Participates are invited to attend readings, events and become eligible for prizes once they’ve logged a total of five hours reading.

Children’s Librarian Cynthia Mason says, “It’s really for parents to start reading to their children from the very beginning. They’re absorbing all of that vocabulary and they’re brain cells are dividing. They’re starting to learn so much.”

The program runs through August 8.
