Native American Students Get New Opportunity
Native American students from across North Dakota kick off a new NDSU program.
A Delaware tribe member held a drum ritual to lead the ceremony.
A mixture of high school and undergraduate students from tribal schools are participating in the new summer undergraduate research program.
In their time at NDSU, Native American students learn about the possibilities of careers in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
NDSU Public Health’s Donald Warne said, The goal is to encourage these very bright young people from the tribal communities to pursue higher education and we want NDSU to be a friendly home for them to come home to when they pursue higher education.”
The ceremony also celebrated the annual Nurturing American Tribal Undergraduate Research and Education Program.
