Red River Headed Into Minor Flood Stage
We saw nearly 2 1/2 inches of rain over the past day and it has pushed the Red River in Fargo Moorhead higher.
It jumped about 1/3 a foot in 24 hours and is forecast to head into minor flood stage over the weekend.
The river is forecast to hit nearly 20 feet by Monday, then start to fall.
That is 2 feet above minor flood stage.
It has forced city crews to pull the floating bridge at dike east out of the water.
The walking bridge at Lindenwood Park has also been raised.
The Oak Grove pedestrian bridge will remain in place.
The rising Red is also forcing a temporary closure of Elm Street in north Fargo.
City crews say the street may need to be closed between 14th and 15th avenues north.
That could happen as early as tomorrow.
Crews will continue to monitor the river level and will reopen Elm Street as soon as possible.
