Man Cited For Swimming in Grand Forks River

A Grand Forks man is facing fines for swimming in a river.

Police responded to a call of a report of a man swimming in the river that appeared to be in distress near Riverside Park.

When they arrived, they found 41-year-old Bryant Peterson hanging on a branch in the river and he would not listen to officers when they told him to exit.

He said he was looking for his dog but when police offered to help, he let go of the branch and began swimming again.

Finally he got out with the help of a rescue disc and was immediately handcuffed.

He was intoxicated and was issued a citation for swimming in the river.

Officers weren’t able to locate a dog so if anyone has information or does find it, they are asked to contact police.
