Gov. Dayton Offers Tax Compromise
It’s too soon to call it a budget breakthrough, but Gov. Dayton has offered an opening to a compromise with House Republicans on taxes.
Dayton spoke favorably about two elements of the $2 billion tax-cut plan the House approved last week. But he criticized the size of the overall package.
Dayton is open to a $1,000-per-person standard deduction that would exist for two years.
The Senate has adopted a tax plan that could put a dent in property taxes for homeowners, farmers and businesses.
