86-Year-Old Harvey Woman Scammed Out of $300,000
A Harvey, North Dakota woman says she lost $300-thousand and cashed in her insurance policy in a Jamaican lottery scam.
86-year-old Edna Schmeets testified at the trial of Sanjay Williams in Bismarck.
He is one of 32 defendants charged in the global case with at least 72 known victims.
Schmeets says scammers told her not to tell anybody about the lottery until she collected her prize.
She says she planned to give the money to her children.
