UPDATE: Names Released In Fatal Crash Near Valley City

A 63-year-old man from Litchville, North Dakota is dead after a crash in Barnes County. He has been identified as Dennis Shape.

He was driving north on highway 1 on Saturday when he suffered an abrupt severe medical condition that caused him to lose control of his SUV.

Shape drifted into the east ditch and continued a few hundred yards before hitting a rock pile.

Another motorist stopped to help and an ambulance later took over.

The driver’s wife, Diane Shape, was a passenger in the car suffered a minor injury.

The man was pronounced dead at the hospital.
