Annual Meeting for Those Who Control the Weather

They are people that can literally control the weather.

Cloud seeding experts gathering in Fargo for the annual meeting of the Weather Modification Association.

The two-day conference consists of presentations on cloud seeding research results from projects in North Dakota and Wyoming.

They are trying to control the amount and type of precipitation.

Officials say weather modification is important around the world but can play a vital role here in North Dakota.

Hans Ahlness, Weather Modification Inc.: “The project that started our company in 1961 is in western North Dakota. And that project is for generally mostly hail suppression to decrease crop loss due to hail for agriculture.”

The Weather Modification Association meets in what they call an exotic location every year.

Last year’s meeting was in Santiago, Chile.
