Quality Bakery Closing Doors After 92 Years

Famous for its great service and freshly baked treats, one of Fargo’s oldest bakeries is preparing to close.
After 92-years of service, Quality Bakery will close at the end of the month.
KVRR’s Brittany Ford has the story.
Everyone as a kid has that one place their parent took them for a special treat. For many in Fargo that place was Quality Bakery.
After serving Fargo for almost a century, it will be closing its doors for good.
“We started reading the window and said what? Both of us were like what?”
That has been the reaction of many returning customers who will be buying one of their last favorite pastries.
Mother and daughter Donna and Alicia live in Grand Forks, and have made it a habit to stop by anytime they are in town.
“I like ones where they are homemade and I can see that they made it fresh that morning instead of just pull out of the freezer. They’re always helpful, they are always like you would love this one and this one sounds good.”
Owners Pete and Marlene Fendt decided to put the business on the market years ago, and hoped the bakery would live on.
But they finally accepted an offer on the building in early March, meaning an end to the operation.
The couple is second generation owners.
Pete’s father opened the bakery back in 1923.
“I came in here with my dad and brought me in here on Saturday mornings. You know this is the place we came for a treat. That’s probably going to be the good warm feeling we’ve left with a lot of people.”
“And as a part of the closing Pete would not let me leave with out trying one of the infamous monster cookies.”
You can stock up on all the monster cookies and pastries until the doors shut for the final time on April 30th.

The bakery will be hosting a going out of business sale on May 3rd where they will be selling all of their professional baking equipment.
