Appeal Denied for Moorhead Babysitter Killer

A federal judge has rejected an appeal by a Moorhead man convicted of killing his former baby sitter.

Michael Gianakos (jee-an-AH’-kose) is serving a life sentence for the 1997 death of 22-year-old AnneMarie Camp, of Fargo.

Authorities say she was killed because she knew about a motel robbery Gianakos and his wife had staged.

He claimed in a complaint last month that the jury convicted him of murder rather than the charged crime, which was kidnapping resulting in death.

Judge Ralph Erickson called the appeal “frivolous”.
