NDSCS Tearing Up Campus for Repair Work

The NDSCS campus in Wahpeton is being torn up so the school can replace its aging water and sewer system.

The college is replacing all of its water main and sewer lines, many of which are more than 60 years old.

Construction has already started, and will continue until freeze-up in the fall.

Many of the old pipes are made with asbestos.

Crews will have to follow proper safety measures to remove those pipes.

The new water mains should last much longer than the pipes the school is replacing.

“It’s not as glamorous as some fancy new building, but it’s essential for this campus to stay operational for the next 100 years and feeding the workforce of North Dakota with our graduates,” says Dallas Fossum, Executive Director of Facilities Management at NDSCS.

The new water lines will also improve fire hydrant coverage on campus.

Currently there are a few spots where fire trucks can’t hook up to hydrants.
