Mahoney to Run for Mayor
Fargo’s mayor officially throws his hat into the race.
Tim Mahoney announced his decision to run in the upcoming special election for mayor.
This comes after the unexpected death of Mayor Dennis Walaker in December.
Mahoney says if elected mayor, he plans to accelerate the flood protection plan, to focus on workforce and economic development, and to help the city grow in a positive fashion.
Mahoney says, “The thing we have to remember is that everybody in Fargo counts. We have to keep it in mind when we try to do different things for different people and try to address the needs of the city.”
Brad Wimmer is the only other candidate in the race, so far.
Mahoney has to resign his commission seat, so that will also appear on the April 28th ballot.
The deadline to file for the seats is February 23rd.
