Fargo Parks Department Kicks Off Season of Giving

Christmas is more than a month away but the Fargo Parks District is kicking off its “Season of Giving”.

The Mayor of Dilworth and city leaders from Fargo and Moorhead helped make the announcement in a press conference at the Santa Village at Rheault Farm in Fargo.

Santa Village has been collecting donations and raising funds for families in need in the F–M area for the past 16 years.

Officials say in years past, the collection drive has been extremely successful.

“Often times we have thousands of people that come through our doors  each and every year and they’re very good about giving back to the community,” said Fargo Parks District Director, Joel Vettel. “So we’ll collect hundreds of gifts, thousands of dollars and certainly thousands of items for nonperishable foods.”

Last year, they collected over $3,000 in cash and 8,000 pounds of nonperishable food.
