High School Students Tackle Northern Valley Career Expo
The fifth annual Northern Valley Career Expo is being held today in Grand Forks.
Sophomores from 33 high schools in northeast North Dakota and northwest Minnesota came to the Alerus Center.
Over 130 hands–on exhibits were on display to help students learn more about potential career fields.
Event organizers say that starting high school students early is key to finding a rewarding career and crafting a vibrant economy.
“They further their interest as juniors and seniors and eventually landing that job or continuing their career pathway whether that choice is further education or working directly right here in the Valley,” said Brandon Baumbach, who is the Business Development Coordinator of the Grand Forks Economic Development Corporation. “So they stay here and they work here and we build a workforce, which is important for economic development.”
Over 1,500 students are expected to attend this year’s expo.
