More Details Released on Moorhead Standoff; Three Suspects Released from Custody
Moorhead Police continue to investigate the standoff involving five suspects, which was peacefully resolved last night.
Moorhead officials say the Street Crimes Unit has been of great assistance in aiding local law enforcement.
“This affords the resources for us to be able to go after these individuals that have serious felony warrants for them,” said Moorhead Police Lieutenant, Tory Jacobson.
Hector Ontoniel Flores is being held on a felony arrest warrant for attempted homicide and his brother, Hector Lionel Flores, is being held on a felony arrest warrant for 2nd Degree Controlled Substance.
Both suspects had three weapons on them at the time of the arrest.
“They did secure a rifle and a pistol as well as a small amount of marijuana and a baseball bat that had screws sticking out of it,” said Lt. Jacobson.
“Proves it can happen anywhere and you never know,” said Brad Anderson, who lives near the home involved in the standoff. “You always got to keep your guard up and it’s always good advice to know your neighborhood.”
In addition to the U.S Marshal’s High Plains Fugitive Task Force, Moorhead Police requested assistance from the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the Minnesota State Patrol, the Grand Forks SWAT team and the Red River Valley SWAT team.
“This is a perfect example of us being able to locate these people that we otherwise struggle with resources towards finding them,” added Lt. Jacobson.
“I think the police force could always use extra patrolmen to watch the neighborhoods,” said Anderson.
Although a CodeRed was used to notify neighbors, officials say the community has no reason to feel unsafe.
“We are really grateful that we were able to negotiate and they cooperated and they came out of this residence without anyone being harmed,” concluded Lt. Jacobson.
So far, three out of the five suspects have been removed from custody and the other two are facing felony charges.
