SpartanNash Foundation and Family Fare Give Back to the Great Plains Food Bank
Great Plains Food Bank received a hefty donation from SpartanNash Foundation.
The $9,200 donation was collected by Family Fare grocery stores in the metro.
People shopping at the stores were asked to make donations in the checkout lanes.
The fundraiser collected a total of $34,000 statewide which Great Plains leaders say will supply 137,000 meals to families in the state.
They also say the donation comes at a perfect time.
“Hunger is painful anytime of the year but it’s especially painful during the holidays,” said Chief Executive Officer Steve Sellent of the Great Plains Food Bank. “So this will help us make sure that no one in our community that seeks help is turned away empty handed. There will be food available for anybody that’s needing food assistance over the holiday season.”
Even though the SpartanNash fundraiser is over, you can still donate to Great Plains Food Bank.
