Gov. Burgum Signs Bill Eliminating a Percentage of Property Tax Rates
The two-year program eliminates counties' ability to tax for those services

BISMARCK, N.D. — Gov. Burgum has signed a bill eliminating a 12 percent buydown of property tax rates.
It’s part of a bill that has the state taking over social services costs for its 53 counties.
The two-year program eliminates counties’ ability to tax for those services.
In exchange, the legislation ended the so-called tax relief fund.
Burgum says it’s more cost-effective than the buydown program.
