A Fashion Show For Everyone To Remember
Tuxes and dresses filled Davies High School for a day many of these students will always remember.
It’s not every Saturday you find Davies Junior, Angela all dolled up. But this Saturday is special, it’s prom time.
“I feel like a queen,” says Davies High School Junior, Angela.
A feeling that students in the Project Unify Club want everyone to experience.
“They see everyone else talking about prom and all these other people prom shopping so for them to be able to do it, it’s a day that they’ll always remember I think,” says, Zach Peters, Vice President of Project Unify.
Zach’s 9-year-old brother has down syndrome. As soon as he heard about the club he knew he needed to join.
“There’s nothing worth their smile it’s amazing just to see them how happy they are back there,” says Peters.
“Feeling happy and enjoying yourself,” says Davies High School Junior, Jessica Boren.
“Yes it’s one of my favorite days in the whole year,” says Angela.
And while it’s just a few hours, the event, complete with pictures, a fashion show and sparkles galore, means so much more.
“It’s all sort of emotions it just has happy and excited all in one,” says Angela.
The message is unity for everyone. It’s a message that Katie Bye hopes catches on.
“Because everyone is the same and that’s how it should be,” says Katie Bye,
President of Project Unity.
And everyone deserves a night to feel like royalty.
Proceeds from the event will go to support Gigi’s Playhouse, which helps people with down syndrome and their families.
