Folkways Debuts Mobile Sauna At Frostival
The people who brought you the pop-up Waffle House are back, but this time on hot wheels.
Folkways introduced its mobile sauna for the first time at this weekend’s Frostival.
It took members 180 hours and $15,000 to assemble the portable hot box.
Inside is a wood fire sauna, designed to offer a more traditional sauna experience.
Creators say this is a good pastime with friends especially during this time of year, when winter blues can strike.
“Everyone in the community experiences that darkness but at the same time we need to change our habits and talk about what does it mean to be active, what is seasonal depression, what do you do in the winter to connect with your friends. For us this is something we saw that other countries were doing so we wanted to give it a shot ourselves,” says Folkway community builder Joe Burgum.
This is available to be rented for sessions or events.
You can catch the mobile sauna at the Border Battle Bike Race on the Red River on Sunday.
