Smoke From Massive Hay Pile Fire Near Lake Park May Smolder For Weeks

BECKER CO., Minn. (KVRR/KFGO) — Becker County authorities say smoke from a massive hay pile fire may be ongoing for several weeks.
It may cause visibility issues for drivers in the area.
Fifteen fire departments responded Wednesday afternoon and used more than a million gallons of water to battle the fire at a farm seven miles north of Lake Park.
Backhoes were brought in to take down the burning piles.
The hoses were not shut down until mid-morning today as some crews who arrived the previous day were watching for flare-ups.
It’s likely the hay and straw could smolder for some time.
The fire is under investigation.
