Final Defendant Sentenced in 2019 Murder on Red Lake Reservation

ST. PAUL (KVRR) — The final defendant is sentenced for a murder and assault on Red Lake Reservation in 2019.

Daniel Barrett of Redby was given 12 years in prison for his role in the crime.

Barrett was with Mia Sumner and Alexia Cutbank when Cutbank fatally shot Daniel Johnson and injured another person.

Rose Siewert was accused of driving the getaway car.

Barrett pleaded guilty last year but took off during his pretrial release.

He was taken back into custody last month.

Cutbank was already sentenced to 20 years, Sumner 10 years and Siewert 2 years in prison.
