Memory Cafe makes 90 blankets in 90 minutes for blanket drive

FARGO, N.D. (KVRR)- The people with Memory Cafe are doing their part to help people before the cold weather hits.

The nonprofit has been making blankets that will be donated to five charities: Down Home, Jeremiah Project, Ronald McDonald House, Women’s Care Center, and Churches United.

The group attempted to make 90 blankets in 90 minutes or one blanket every minute.

The nonprofit has been doing the blanket drive for six years to help people suffering with memory loss. Deb Kaul, the Executive Director of Memory Cafe, said “And the Goal of this Project is memory Cafe is dedicated to promoting the idea and demonstrating the idea that people living with memory loss including memory loss caused by Alzheimer’s Disease or any other related dementia are still beautiful valued members of our community and we need them”

They beat their goal by making 97 blankets in 90 minutes.

In total, the nonprofit has donated over 500 blankets
