Fargo officers, firefighters honored for actions in the July 14 shooting

FARGO (KVRR-KFGO) – Awards were given out to first responders for their actions on July 14 and in the days following the fatal police ambush that took the life of Officer Jake Wallin and critically wounded two other officers and a civilian.
Officers Tyler Hawes and Andrew Dotas were each honored with the Law Enforcement Purple Heart.
Officer Zach Robinson received the Medal of Honor, the department’s highest honor which has only ever been given to two other officers.
Six firefighters were honored by Fargo Fire Department for their lifesaving actions and three of them also received Medals of Valor from the Fargo Police.
Several other officers were honored with Distinguished Service Medals.
