Man’s Body Recovered From Lake of the Woods

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 78-year-old John Frey of Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin.

BAUDETTE, Minn. (KFGO) – Lake of the Woods County Sheriff’s Office in northern Minnesota says a man’s body has been recovered from Lake of the Woods.

Deputies were first notified of a potential drowning at the Northwest Angle near Flag Island shortly after 8 a.m. Thurs.

A search was conducted by the sheriff’s office, agents with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, DNR conservation officers, and the Cass County Lakes Area Dive Team. The body was recovered in about 10 feet of water shortly after 3 p.m.
