Minnesota court interpreters could strike next week

ST. PAUL, Minn. – A group of independent contractors who work for the Minnesota court system could stage a walkout next week.
Court interpreters around the state are upset that Minnesota has failed to increase their pay relative to inflation.
Interpreters will receive a 16% pay increase to $65 per hour on Monday, but they say they should be making closer to $100 per hour.
They also say they should get reimbursed more for travel and mileage expenses.
Several dozen interpreters say they will refuse job assignments next week to protest the situation.
