UPDATE: Suspect Injured in Officer-Involved Shooting in Polk County Died at Altru

UPDATE 01/10/24 6:30PM: Minnesota BCA has identified the man who was shot and killed by officers as 42-year-old Lucas Gilbertson of rural East Grand Forks.
The BCA is actively investigating the incident.
UPDATE 01/10/24 2:45PM: Minnesota BCA says the man shot by officers in a home just south of East Grand Forks on Tuesday died at Altru Hospital.
They have not released his identity or the identity of the officers involved.
POLK CO., Minn. (KVRR) — A suspect is in Altru Hospital in Grand Forks with gunshot injuries after an officer-involved shooting in Polk County.
The sheriff’s office says it happened while officers and the Pine to Prairie Drug Task Force were executing an arrest warrant in Rhinehart Township, just south of East Grand Forks.
The suspect exited the home but then returned followed by officers.
Shortly after the suspect was shot.
Their identity and condition are both unknown at this time.
The Minnesota BCA will investigate the officer-involved shooting along with Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities say there is no threat to the public.
No more information will be released at this time.
