ND State Superintendent Baesler Announces Re-election Run

North Dakota State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler is officially announcing her re-election campaign

BISMARCK, N.D. (KVRR) –  North Dakota State Superintendent Kirsten Baesler is officially announcing her re-election campaign this morning.

In her re-election announcement, Baesler highlighted efforts to require lessons on computer science and cybersecurity, as well as providing fiscal training to school districts and reducing the Department of Public Instruction’s spending.
She has also been elected president of the Council of Chief State School Officers.
Baesler was first elected in 2012.
She has run into multiple controversies during her tenure. In 2015 she was charged with simple assault after an incident with her then-fiance. The charge was later dropped.
In 2020 she was arrested for DUI.
Prior to her election, Baesler worked in Bismarck Public Schools and served as the president of the Mandan school board.
