Names in Deadly Hotel Shooting in Cloquet Released
CLOQUET, Minn. (KVRR/FOX21) — The names of those involved in a deadly shooting at Super 8 in Cloquet, Minnesota on Monday night have been released by authorities.
Cloquet Police identify the shooter as 32-year-old Nicholas Lenius of Ramsey, Minnesota.
He died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Police say Lenius fatally 22-year-old hotel clerk Shelby Trettel of Cloquet and a man in his vehicle, 35-year-old Patrick Roers of Deer River.
Mayor Roger Maki of Cloquet said, “I’d like to share my heartfelt sympathies to the victims of this horrible incident.
I would like to thank the public for their cooperation for sheltering in place requests. With the public’s support law enforcement was able to work this case safely and efficiently as possible and give the all clear.”
Police Chief Derek Randall said, “We have had homicide’s but nothing to this nature in my 20 plus years I’ve never issued a shelter in place alert.”
