FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) — After 10 days of packing meals for hungry kids around the globe, Feed My Starving Children FargoPack has just missed its goal of 10 million meals.

The volunteer effort packed a total of 9,712,224 meals.

That is enough to feed 26,608 kids every day for a year.

Over the past ten days, 27,000 people volunteered their time at Fargodome to pack meals and try to reach the 10 million meal goal.

They came from schools, businesses and church groups.

While they didn’t reach the goal they set two records: the largest pack in the history of Feed My Starving Children.

They also set the record for the most number of meals packed in a single two hour shift at nearly one million.

Dave Gunnlaugsson, Feed My Starving Children MobilePack regional development advisor for FargoPack said, “we set out on a goal to feed 27,000 people hungry in body and spirit and that’s what was done, while the 10 million meal goal wasn’t fully reached, the Red River Valley had over 27,000 people come out over these 10 days to help feed kids, families and communities around the world.”
