Watch: Trump wants Burgum for ‘very important’ role in administration
FARGO (KFGO) – Former President Donald Trump made it clear during his victory speech in Des Moines, Iowa Monday that he hopes North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum joins the next Trump Administration if Trump is reelected to the White House.
The governor and First Lady Kathryn Burgum were on stage with Trump when the former president said he considers Burgum one of the best leaders in the nation.
“He’s one of the best governors in our country and I hope that I’m going to be able to call on him to be a piece of the administration,” Trump said. “A very important piece of the administration.”
“What people don’t know is that he actually supported me on the other side twice already. Right?” said Trump. “But the traction is never easy, right? You need controversy for traction sometimes. And this guy is the most solid guy.”
Burgum had been running for president in the GOP primary until early December, when he withdrew from the race. He was first elected governor in 2016.
Burgum was not available for comment.
