Grafton High School Teacher wins Milken Educator Award and a $25,000 prize
GRAFTON, N.D., (KVRR)- A Grafton High School teacher has won the Milken Educator Award and a 25 thousand dollar prize for her teaching. Katelyn Gorder, a Family and Consumer Science teacher at Grafton High, won the award.
It is given to educators who show excellence with teaching and leading students in and out of the classroom.
This award came as a complete surprise to Gorder who was very shocked and hopes this inspires more people to be teachers. Gorder said, “I just hope to continue to still be, I guess, great teacher and inspire others.”
Gorder also said, “I would love to inspire others to be teachers. I do teach an intro to teaching course or a teaching profession, and that is just something that I’m really passionate about and I love to get students into the classroom.”
The award is given to around 30 teachers each year and Gorder was the only recipient this year in North Dakota.
