Using quilts to help bring awareness to cervical cancer in Grand Forks

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (KVRR) – Grand Forks Public Health and Women’s Way are reminding women to go get screened for cervical cancer in a unique way. They are using quilts in the city to get people’s attention.

These quilts were made by or in memory of women who have battled the cancer and precancerous HPV lesions. The quilts can be seen at Public Health, Spectra Health and Grand Forks Public Library.

“The quilts are just another way rather than a brochure or somebody telling them to get their HPV vaccine,” said Tiffany Boespflug, the Women’s Way coordinator. “So it’s a way for them to maybe connect with the message on the quilt to really kind of enhance that message and they can feel supported. And realize there are other people that are going through this or took the steps for the opportunity to get screened.”

Public Health recommends you talk to your primary provider to get your screening scheduled.
