Local charity gets $50,000 from Gate City Bank for Giving Hearts Day
FARGO, N.D. (KVRR) – Giving Hearts Day is a special time in the region, as over 600 charities are getting donations to help with their causes. One lucky group received a $50,000 donation by Gate City Bank, and that was the Rape and Abuse Crisis Center Fargo-Moorhead.
“One of my favorite things each year is being able to try to make it a surprise and keep it a surprise. So we work very closely with the Giving Hearts Day team to help make that happen and it was a success this year which is really fun.” said Amanda Torok, the Sr. VP of Culture at Gate City Bank.
The center had no idea this was coming, and were shocked by the news.
“The amount of impact that we can have on the community with these dollars is almost immeasurable. When you look at the amount of victims we serve, the amount of classrooms we’re in front of and the amount of prevention work we can do with these funds. This is a key to making our community safer and healthier.” said Dr. Christopher Johnson, the CEO of the center.
This money will go to helping countless people in the area. And will also help with other costs like snow removal and maintenance at their center.
“Those are some of our trickier things to pay for. That along with victim assistance. The amount of support we can give children in our school systems. We can just make this go so far.” said Dr. Johnson.
